New ss1 owner

Post by Jhdelta » Tue Jul 18, 2017 6:40 pm

Hi all
So i finally got an ss1, its white and orange with gulf livery so im sure you will know the car.

It will be used for classic targa rallies competing against mk2 escorts, midgets and mx5s amongst others in the modern class,

plans are to remove the twin forties, sort the exhuast, fit an lsd (already sourced) and sort the suspension possibly lifting by 2-3 inches! Would be nice.

So please excuse my upcoming 1001 technical questions.

Also feel fred to pm me if you have any goodies to sell i might be interested in

Thanks
Joe

Looking forward to this Joe.

I suspect there's some tips to be had from the classic rally crowd who hammer their cars a bit harder than everyone else. I know Steve Sims has had damper eye end failures (non-standard) and there are known strengthening mods to be done on all wishbones/ trailing arms and the diff mount.

Joe, did wonder which car you had ended up with. Good choice!

I wouldn't be so quick to get rid of the twin 40s, stick it on the rolling road and see what power it produces and where. Otherwise yes i have not forgotten about your carb request. Have a 32/34 DMTL here which would suit.
