Hello one and all

Post by DasJoker » Thu Jul 13, 2017 8:53 pm

Hello everyone. Thought I would make a quick introduction. I am a devoted petrol head and always have been. My first word was car (much to my parents dismay) and have owned a fair few over my 23 years of driving,

Being born to a fellow petrol head my dad owned and restored a whole host of various cars through my childhood. An amazing inspiration to me. Sadly he took his own life in 2008 through a long battle with depression and huge void came into my life. After a few years of coming to terms with the fact he is no longer here I decided I wanted to find a connection with him and decided my way into that would be to get a car that stood out from child hood. MG`s were a contender, but to be fair a bit small when it comes to taking myself my lass and two dogs out for the day. It was then the Scimitar GTE SE6 he had sprang into mind. It has taken a few more years to find the right one, and last Sunday ebay helped me find "the one" . So this Saturday I am off to trailer back a 1977 Black GTE SE6 auto. It needs TLC and my only hope is my dad is with my while I get it back on the road. It join`s our current fleet of VW`s (74 T2, 72 Rat look Beetle, 97 T4 Panmultivelle, Passat Est, New Beetle oh and a Honda CB400 SF)

It would be great if I could track down my dads old car shown in the picture with an 8 yr old me hanging out of the drivers window.

Be nice to part of a new scene.

Welcome Dave, nice intro.
Hope you can track down your dad's old car, however it doesn't show up on an RAC registration check.

I have a feeling it is long gone now. It stayed local for a few years and then vanished

as others on here said to me when I first got my GTE, they will get under the skin. You might start to question why you like VW so much!!!
Any questions, try on here first, as there is a huge amount of knowledge, some learnt the hard way and always happy to divulge.
Always a great forum for spares, should you require any.

Welcome Dave. The practicality (ish) of a GTE always helps to bring along SWMBO :-D
