New SS1 Owner

Post by AndyM » Mon Jul 10, 2017 11:02 am

Good Morning,

After looking for a classic for the last few years, I have finally taken the plunge and bought a 1985 SS1 1600. I wanted something fun and unusual and when I stumbled across this one on eBay locally, it fitted the bill perfectly. The chassis seems sound and with the fibre body, I can spend my time tinkering with the mechanics rather than cutting and welding like my Minis of old. Its a engine I can understand and teach my 10 year old the basics without plugging in a laptop!

I plan on taking it to a few shows over the rest of the summer and autumn before a tidy up over the winter and hopefully a few sprints and hill climbs if I can? I know it wont be as quick as the 1800 turbos but it will give me some affordable fun.

I am based in sunny (at this moment in time) Weston-Super-Mare.

Great stuff, hope you enjoy it, make yourself known to the club registrar with your new purchase via ss1.registrar@rssoc.co.uk

1600 SS1 is the perfect car for entry into sprinting. I'm currently giving a few of the 1800ti's a run for their money in my warmed over 1300!
