Old member coming back

Post by Captain Beke » Wed May 10, 2017 1:01 pm

Hi everbody ,I am from West London and a Chauffeur and drive an Audi A8L auto
I have just rejoined the RSSOC ( old number 2459 ) after being without a Scimitar for 20 years and will be looking to purchase one soon,
I had a 6a manual from Feb 1990 HFC 467S Chassis No 7J53/18203391 from Attleborough Scimitar Centre , Norfolk ,paid £5000 for it then, Is it still going ?
I use to get ribbed over its colour ( Rustic Brown ? ) only I could buy a plastic car in a rust colour.
Have been browsing the web site from last year and love all the comments and exchange of ideas, so will be asking question when I get my car
Thanks Richard

Welcome :-)

Not sure if Barry is still trading in Scimitars but I heard that he was in better health and working again (some time ago though).

I did hear that Barry had been doing Scimitar work recently (last couple of years) from a 5a owner in the area. Might it be Celtic Brown you refer to? I'm keeping with brown on my 6a as it is such a period colour and that alone won it a (small) place in a TV miniseries as street furniture.

Hi Richard, welcome to the forum, and welcome back. Good luck with your search for a car :D

As for HFC467S, according to DVLA, it's been untaxed since 09 June 2012, and doesn't appear on the computerised MOT system which has been on the go since about 2005 or 2006. So it *may* still be around "resting" somewhere, but it isn't on the road, I'm afraid. :(

Thanks greeny for the welcome
The internet wasn't invented the last time I owned a scimitar , so this time I should be much easier , with lots of help from the members on here.
I have been reading this forum from top to bottom in the last few weeks so I know ever thing there is to know about scimitars , problem is I have got it all mixed up and will have to start again.

Thing with here is all you have to is either search it or ask it and the answer is usually there.
When I was first knocking about in scimitars computers were not what you would call useable!! I was 5 my first proper memory is in the back of my Dads 5a with an lp of the BBC production of Peter and the Wolf in my hand!!! Think it was with Angela Rippon???

Well guys and girls I have now entered into the world of Scimitar ownership again.
I have a 1979 dull red SE6A PFW 337V from a guy in Romford, was on eBay last month, good mechanics and well sorted , interior is very good just needed a good clean, Paint is very dull but may improve with an bit of spit and polish , starts and runs like a dream ( so far so good ) got some cherry bombs underneath which make it sound like a V8, just have to get use to them, :D
Will try to get to Curborough for one day at least. To look at all the cars and dream at what my car will look like with a bit paint, and to see what I can spend my money on.

It's most unlike me to make a snap decision too!

I normally procrastinate over cars and end up not getting the one I wanted!😕
