Finally bought myself a Scimitar

Post by Scimidart180 » Mon May 01, 2017 10:58 pm

Hello all. I have previously made an introductory post before but I've rarely posted since then so I may as well be a new member all over again.

Anyway I finally managed to pick up a rather special Scimitar which may or may not be familiar to some of you.

It's a red SE6B given a full-on restoration by a previous owner in 2004 and fitted with a 2.9 EFI and auto transmission in the process. It's a magnificent job and drives really well, only slight annoyance is a very small water leak into the driver foot well from somewhere which I only discovered when giving it a wash and spruce up.

Almost a Middlebridge - its very nice with a 4 speed auto rather than the original "Reliant" 3 speed. Windscreen seal is the first place to look for the leak followed by the wiper and washer. Nice colour Rover Nightfire 2 ?

I thought that one was either a late SE6 or early 6a that you're thinking of, greeny?

Could be but couldn't remember. Incident think that one had a 2.9 either... But she looks very much like that one.

Oh and welcome!!

The R reg that GW bought and sold at Curbs?

Was this one built by Will Sparrow?

Thanks for the welcomes, much appreciated. I'll be looking to obtain RSSOC membership very soon too.

I'll be sure to check around the wipers, washers and windscreen rubbers for any leakage, Peter.

Seems to drip down from just below the steering area rather than running down the back of the footwell.

Not sure what the name of the colour is but would like to find out so I can at least obtain a touch-up paint if possible.

I'm pretty sure that Andy's GTC rebuild in this thread is nightfire, and it looks very similar?
