Hello all,

Long time since I've been on here, but still lurking! Cant quite get the plastic cars out my system!!

This fine 6b was previously mine, and before that was from Steve Cork. Previously C90 HUK in the UK, its the ?3rd last ?4th last one?

I will let Mark divulge the info on it, but am very pleased to see it enjoying a life in the sun!! I had it for about 5 years, improved and maintained it as a daily driver. Never immaculate, but honest and reliable and (I thought) very presentable. I had no hesitation in regular Glasgow- London trips.

Mark, hopefully you got the very large file of paperwork with the car detailing history, work done, etc??

Cheers!!

Andy

That used to be my 6B. It was given to me by my Father in law for my 40th. It has the engine out of my first GTC. When I got the car it had a 3.5ltr stroker cologne in it, so I swapped the engines (sorry).

I sold it on to AndyD, who will be lurking somewhere, as he alerted me to this thread

So Black interior and greyish leather seats.
Small world that it used to be yours Steve.
It does look very much the same colour as mine.
And I bought mine in 2008, same time as your picture.
Interesting about Jims comment on 2.8 engines being SC16000, mine is SC16694 and that just does not stack up to only 407 6b`s made.
UNLESS there were 355 GCT`s made before my car.
My engine being 694 fitted to 6b car number 339.
NON of this makes sense when comparing the April 1984 registration of my car, #5768, and the chassis records in TSAIFB??

when they halted production for the first batch of 300 ish GTC.
Bearing Jim's quote in mind, and allowing a little fuzziness as they may not have used the engines in strict numerical order, then that sounds about right? :)

Surely #5768 is an early '84 build (ie after the bulk of the GTC production) so April '84 registration sounds plausible? :)

I hope it is the linkage as worn syncs is a gearbox out job - easier to do on some of our Triumphs, GT6 etc.

G'day Mark from down under again.
Where do I start?
Jim, there 6 x 14 Wolfrace wheels. Do they normally have adjustable coil overs on the front?
Andy, lots of paperwork, particularly for importation. It was a nightmare for the previous owner. C 90 HUK (still have the plates )
is now on full NSW rego. Haven't read all the paperwork yet.
Corky, those photos are great! What milage was on the GTC engine, & how much was the 6B showing when fitted? the heads
were done out here. The extra guage & switch are gone. Interesting, I was told the stroker let go!
gtcse8, black leather seats/interior, I'll get the numbers later.
Phil Terry Peter, checked lingages via the manual & there right. The book suggests selector problems, either way it's box out,
I'll live with it for now, only occurs when you back off, O/D is good.
DarrylWebb, not as much as you might think, around the price of an average Triumph Stag ( T word again!).
Hope I caught everyone.
Everyone, keep hijacking the thread I'm learning heaps, & thanks to all.

Mark, my first photo shows your car parked next to the GTC that your engine came from HOM450W. If you look
for Scimitar GTC on Wikipedia, you’ll find a lovely photo of HOM after I’d had it resprayed, fitted the stroker and got rid of those awful stripes (they were there to cover the many large cracks in a previous paint job). As far as I know, the stroker is still alive and well.
I can’t remember how many miles that engine had on it. I’ll have a look if I’ve got any photos of the dash from back then (I think it was around 80k but it was a long time ago).
After Andy picked the car up from me, one of the head gaskets let go and he did both heads (skimmed etc). So unless they were done again, they were done in the UK.
Great to see the car is still alive and kicking!

G'day Mark down under again.
gtcse8, I've had a good look at the numbers.
Chassis 190180GB005862. Third last built?
Engine SC 16113 (could end in 5 reading upside-down in the mirror is fun).
What I don't get is if the car has had a transplant ( was told 16832 ) why is the engine number SC 16113 on the factory build plate?
It presents as a matching number car.
Corky the heads were done again here.

Yes, 16113 is the engine I put in from GTC number 79 (HOM450W).

Maybe someone has replaced the Manufacturers plate. Blanks are available and easily etched and pop riveted on.
