Is it me or does this car seem a little lifeless? Maybe used to belong to John Major ... ???

Anyway, for anyone in need of a fully restored SE4 this is an opportunity for some serious wallet-lightening:

It says the colour is silver grey but the pictures make it look like primer grey!
What's it really worth,I've not a clue.

Doesn't anybody proof read an advert these days, for simple things like spelling and grammar... oh and facts

It looks nice enough though

If it's mechanically sound and is pretty much how it looks, its worth the money. The colour definitely isn't opalescent but it's definitely not the worst colour I've seen on a Coupe. My only issue with it is the dates on the photos are 2009, but it may just be an incorrectly setup camera.

I'd be more concerned about the fact that those photos are date-stamped from nearly 10 years ago! (Sorry, Josh - I just saw that you beat me to it!)

I was keen to read the auction advert in full, but got about halfway through before abandoning it in utter despair at its complete disregard for any rules of the English language. That auction house ought to be ashamed - what an embarrassment. :(

I think the camera date is wrong, the car didn't look that good in 2010 (and it had a roof aerial) ...
It's an auction so is 12 000 the starting price?
Agreed about the door mirrors :(

No, £12k is the guide price.

So Barons just take the sales pitch provided by the seller and put it on their website whatever it says? Do they not bother to read it?

It's a good looking car. But saying "we think it's a Raymond Mays set-up" could make a big difference to the final selling price. I hope it's true - if I was a prospective buyer I wouldn't rely on the description.

Edit: I suppose to be fair to Barons it's actually Car & Classic's ad, not Barons'

Blow up the picture of the chassis.
Plenty of flaking metal which does not point to a recent or thorough restoration in my opinion

As Oaksey said if its as described with a decent paint job its worth the money. A few year back I looked at buying a Jensen Interceptor at auction. It came with a very good sales pitch. After a sever interrogation of the auctioneer around the finer points of the "restoration" it became clear, and I walked away. I also looked at this really nice Coupe that was for sale last year http://www.percivalmotorco.co.uk/1967_R ... Coupe_Se4/ The dealer wanted 19k. I offered 14k (sight unseen subject to A1 condition) and he knocked me back  My criteria when hunting for my car was 1) Uncommon & British. 2) 1960's. 3) 150+bhp. When you look around there are not that many cars that can come close to a well sorted Coupe for the money.

Agreed. It's the ad which is so cringeworthy, not the car

here is a better worded ad from Barons themselves, clearly text taken from the vendor though http://www.barons-auctions.com/view-lot ... e-gt-coupe
