XRF 976H Interesting SE5 for sale £4000

Post by roymck » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:46 pm

It is with regret that due to loss of storage my SE5 is up for sale .

This is the ex-press road test car as featured in Autocar and Motor magazine in the late 60s 1st owner Reliant Motor Company . It was also loaned to Princess Anne in the late 60,s and early 70,s prior to her Scimitar ownership. Magazine and photos provided . Actually registered as a Scimitar not a Reliant .It looks like this is the earliest surviving face lifted SE5 as chassis number is 504

Motd and on the road . Starts first time and 100% reliable .No overheating issues . Heater works well .
Car has stainless exhaust and manifolds , Kent cam , alloy timing wheel, lead free modified heads , new battery , Cibie headlights , Stainless bumpers front and back . 5 x Princess Anne wheels with as new tyres . Brakes good and rear axle the quietest I have ever had. Leather front seats, Motolita steering wheel, Good solid chassis . Paintwork ok from 10 foot away with usual microblisters etc . Car in Dorking Surrey

EDIT. Forgot it has Stainless fuel tank , Stainless water pipes and silicon hoses , new rear lights .
HRW not working , horn stopped working , Drivers seat belt a bit erratic on retracting .

Got to be worth £4000 , a unique Early SE5 with interesting history .

Yes, I knew this car well under its previous ownership in Scotland, and can vouch for it being a corker! Good luck, and hope it goes to a loving home...

Really nice and agree with Jim, surely too cheap, particularly with that provenance. That's also the exact colour that my 5, SAR, was when she was new and when I first bought her in 1972. It's the colour, Silver Beech or Birch?? ....not sure...which I wanted when she was repainted 4 years ago. Couldn't find the colour and so settled on Moonstone, a mistake I've regretted since for all sorts of reasons.
Good luck with the sale

Let's club together and buy it, then give it to the new Royals as a wedding present. :D

I know it's probably worth more but my son has decided to move away to Exeter and so put his house up for sale so goodbye to my storage . We are having extensive building work done and things are a bit ( a lot ) hectic so sensibly priced as it's got too go. Jump in and drive it anywhere.
