1970 SE4B Coupe 'garage find' for sale

Post by turbster » Thu Aug 17, 2017 11:41 am

I've not touched this car this year so I think my project days are definitely over for now!

So most of the detail and pictures are here http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/view ... 4&start=30

It's a good honest car, I'd say the chassis is repairable without removing the body; however I'd recommend removal was the best route. It's stood since 1987 in a garage and the mileage is showing 37000 which looks to be genuine going off the car and mountain of paperwork!

It's been painted the red colour from the light blue metallic original and the paint has cracked in places due to it's thickness, I carefully removed a section on the wing using a scraper, and it comes off easily revealing a very nice looking gel coat underneath.

The interior is good and complete including the webasto which needs re-covering but is all there.

The front bumper is sound but needs re-chroming and I have a very rare and correct genuine Reliant rear bumper still in it's packaging! I also have a full set of original NOS hub caps..

The engine was rebuilt by Robin Rew just before it was parked up and it sounds amazingly smooth so a quick gasket refresh and tidy up should be all that's needed there. The clutch worked when tested but the brakes need attention.

It's a great project for someone, it's complete, not too far gone, very very original with all the right parts and it shouldn't be a massive project.

PM me with any questions and viewing is possible in Huddersfield.

Delivery can also be arranged at cost.

I'd consider a nice Scimitar or other sports car as part of the deal either way, this is a great opportunity..

Offers around £4k

If we couldn't find new Reliant items for HBL 725G (front and rear bumpers) once it's been painted, what are the alternatives?

Are Stainless steel available for the coupe too? That or modify SE5/5a rear bumpers.

I wasn't sure how to price it, but having thought about what I've got in it it was way too cheap

I used to see that all the time when it lived in the next village, ironically it's a bit bright for me
