This is the ex-unwin car I sold a few weeks ago. Now totally ruined,(IMO) a bit of profit stuck on, and badly described. What a shame as great chassis and quarter lights etc.

Now now. It's a free world and just because you don't approve of what had been done doesn't make it right to slander the seller publicly

given there was a green SS1 1600 with mot and partially refinished body work that sold for similar money in last month or so, i don't see why this won't attract a buyer.

I wouldn't say it was ruined, what's been done to it is easily reversible, if that's the way the next owner wants to go.
Had it been re-sprayed, as the seller indicates, it would have been a nice looking intriguing car, as I suspect the intention was for it to be de-badged.

How much did you sell it for? Shame I didn't see it then... I was considering the ruined one on ebay, as it is the only galvanized SS1 within my budget that is roadworthy....

A brief history.
Owned by Alex U. son of our very own club secretary. Well maintained but aesthetically let down as Alex had started to rub it back for respray.
Sold for circa 750 to forum members "The Hawkins"
Various jobs done by Will and Mark H. including £350 of refurbished wheels and tyres from yours truly
Sold on again for similar money to Dave Speed who intended to respray it but decided it against it due to panel fit needing adjustment and a general lack of time.
Then put up for sale with a fair description but the usual "Speedy sale" technique of wanting it gone yesterday and sold for circa £500.

What is it worth now?

Basic SS1 = £300-500 in parts all day long (T9 box £150-200, diff £100-150, wishbones £30-60 ea)
MOT = £250
Galv = £250

Still a 1K car then, but certainly less sellable than it once was! I might argue that the seller has put in time and effort, added some parts (spare wheels, service items, mirrors) and hence they wish to see this reflected in the sale price.

It always needed a respray... now it's just more of a pressing issue!

I did offer the asking price to Dave when he was selling it but wasn't taken seriously (I doubt he wanted to deliver it back to Reading, paid or otherwise!) as I had 2 full sets of Istrian blue panels, a pair of seats and usable hood. But hey ho, not to be.

Thanks for the background info... :-)

Parting it would be a shame, I would buy it to have it run again... would have to wait a bit for respray so it wouldn't be the best looking car... for a while... but it would be great to have it and be able to take it out once in a while for a ride while saving for a respray :-)

I could do you a deal on a Ti that I need to do a couple of little jobs on for the MOT. it would be £1850 with a fresh ticket.

I have a full set of metallic light blue panels professionally resprayed at a reputed cost of 4k wrapped up in storage. They were set aside for my "beloved" KMG, but I'm not putting them on a competition car any time soon. An offer nudging into 4 figures would tempt them away from me. Including colour coded hardtop, mk2 arm rest, mk2 spoiler, electric mirrors and a second bootlid (one bubbled)

Those plus this car equals nice car ticking all the boxes.
