1976 SE6A (presumed) at Sussex Classics

Post by drcdb15 » Sat Feb 24, 2018 9:06 pm

This car was listed on C&C yesterday (23 February) but is not on the Sussex Classics web site. I think it must be the same one I saw in passing there a few weeks ago, so I guess they've just got around to having it ready for sale, since it has a new MoT.

As you can see from the ad, they're a bit coy about the history details, but seems a tidy example at a fair price as far as one can tell from the photos.

SE6 I think - Bosch dizzy and original cooling system are good signs.

Can’t decide if it’s brown or grey but the paint looks good?

My 1976 SE6 has a Fomoco dizzy, I assume it was fitted from new.

FoMoCo or Bosch - depends on what delivery they had that day, I think. Some say the Bosch is better but can’t say why. Maybe because it isn’t made by Ford?

Girling brake master cylinder says Se6 :)

Motorcraft dizzy was much more commonly standard I think?, but Bosch is normally regarded as an upgrade, so as Jim says, a good sign.

Not sure what colour the paint is (almost looks like a variety of gunmetal on my PC?), but overall looks quite well-presented?

Yep, wavy bumper, red side reflectors and girdling brakes suggest it’s a 1975 built SE6. Fomoco would have been standard AFAIK - or at least Bosch don’t appear in the parts manual.

SE6 I think
Sorry, stand corrected. I confess I didn't take the time to check out the fine details, I just assumed 76 would be an A. Colour certainly looks 'different' - I couldn't see if it's grey or blue. The thing I always look for on this age of car is whether or not the dash top is distorted. This one seems to be pretty flat. Original steering wheel too.
