Scimitar 4x4 Prototype to be Auctioned

Post by RodH » Mon Feb 19, 2018 7:32 pm

The owners of all the surviving FF prototypes will be looking for spares for their cars. That will drive the price up. Would be a shame if it was broken.

Hopefully it will go for more than a rusty FF.

Scimitar 4x4 Prototype to be Auctioned

Post by gtcse8 » Mon Feb 19, 2018 10:55 pm

There is no getting away from the fact that this car IS A SCIMITAR.

Just as my previously owned GTE converted GTC with a Chevy engine fitted is.

At least this car was assembled, presumably, at Tamworth using a Reliant chassis and body.

This car has a right to be used as a Scimitar and I don`t personally think the Jensen owners, or other FF cars, will have the brains ( or balls) to buy it for spares.

Even a slight idiot must have worked out that as it was a prototype not a lot of the parts will fit any other FF car.

Some pics from Dave showing the heavily modified chassis. Nothing inside the side rails, forward of the trailing arm mount tube, is standard.

He He Jim

I know who can fix that problem, IF it is a problem. :?:

Will have to see how the radiator and ducting are fabricated.

I imagine off the shelf standard parts were used/modified to fit when it was made into a road car. It has an underbonnet spare so must use a very similar arrangement?

The whole body from the A post forward is longer than standard, so John C must have had a bodyshell modified at Reliant to fit?
Are you sure Jim??
Doesn't look any different to me, in fact if the front duct work is not fitted like the "normal" car then there is no reason for a longer body??.

No, I’m not (having never seen the car) - and I can’t remember who told me but I think it was Dave after he first saw the car in 2012.

It would make sense being slightly stretched at the front as that’s what they had to do to turn a Jensen interceptor into a FF

Good for you Mark, best of luck with the auction. It'd be great if a unique car like this was 'back in out of the cold'.

Apart from the Scimitar, which cars could people see them selves driving from the collection? I like the 1977 Rover 3500 in brown with a light velour interior ..

Nothing to worry about there.

Just trying to register on line to bid, but the bloody system won`t let me.
Will have to ring them.

Terry, you may be following the wrong link, now that they've put up the proper catalogue. Dave Poole's link on P2 is the one to use :)
