Anyone else aware of these 2 on eBay great if our cars start achieving anything like the sale prices of these 2 but 5he vendor really ought to take more care stating it’s a1997 car instead of 1977  :) 😊

Around 14 Scimitars for sale on eBay that I can see?

The most expensive two are both at dealers - this rebuilt 6a (would it have originally had an 8 track in 1977?) at £10.5k and this 5a auto at £8k with wrinkly dash and reflectors on the rear vents - oh, and no V5

Asking £8k for a car with no V5C?

Made me chuckle...

And conveniently not mentioned that the 5a has been off the road for 7 or 8 years!

I sprayed an MGB that yellowy/orange colour back in 1968 - Positano Yellow IIRC - and like it even less now!

The more expensive green one needs a "light respray to the front wings"...which might mean it's just had a cheap paint job which needs redoing properly, and we all know how much a bare Grp,doors and windows off paint job costs.
The cheaper mustard 5A has its good points, but a few things that jar...how much care and skill does it take to fit a front number plate level?
As I've said before there is no way I would ever buy a car like this from a dealer, they will have big mark ups but also, crucially, you cannot chat to the previous owner who can give you chapter and verse as to what has and has not been done to the car.

After my last purchase, not sure I believe everything a previous owner says, or omits to say!

I’d probably buy this 6a from Daryl and spend a bit on the interior?

And there's a tidy 6A on Pistonheads which I was quite interested in until I realised that I wanted a 5! The seller sounds very genuine.

The interior on the piston heads Scimitar is really nice but im not a fan of the vinyl roof, the paint looks tired too which is usually a bad sign as they normally look better on pictures than in person.

Of course you have no guarantee of the truth from a private owner but you can glean something.
A dealer usually has no real knowledge of the car's past and doesn't want to know.
I wouldn't think either of these cars anywhere near approaches the £10k one owner 5A from the North east recently sold, but a car like that comes up very, very rarely.

Depends if that person is a scimitar/ club person, you are unlikely to find a dishonest Scimitar enthusiast.

I must hasten to add here that I don't think the PO was dishonest, just didn't know much about Scimitars. When I queried something, he would say "not sure, never had a Scimitar before". But he did point out some of the car's deficiencies and was, I believe, totally honest.

"not sure, never had a Scimitar before" is exactly my point, a proper Scimitar owner knows them Inside and out as you have to really. No one buys a 40-50 year old plastic car without learning a a lot and very quickly
