SE6B - Erratic Running
I have just bought an 1984 SE6B auto on Ebay, didn't view it but was assured that everything was fine including a brand new MOT. Had it trailerd, after having it unloaded tried to start it to put it in my garage, found that on starting with full choke the engine would rev to 2,000 rpm for approx 10-15 secs then die down to 200 rpm for about 5 secs and then rev back up again to 2000. This was repeated time after time, and when I tried to select Drive it would either lurch forward and then stall.
Can anybody help?

Do you know what type of carb it has...only thing i can think of is a massive air leak .And possibly something to do with the anti stall valve..Try asking AJL electronics on here

We need to know which Carb is fitted, and you mentioned the starting with "Full choke", has it got a manual conversion.
If it "Hunts" then it sounds like it has a weber 38 DGAM fitted as the pierburg carb did not have an anti stall system fitted.
The Original Pierburg carb is a right pain when it gets older and conversion to Weber is the way to go.
I would also check the vacuum take off that was fitted to auto boxes, at the rear of the inlet manifold, to rule out a leak there which could cause your symptoms.
I would also be harassing the seller for their thoughts on the problem, bit naughty misrepresenting a sale, but as they say Caveat Emptor, and hopefully it was not a scimweb member "getting rid"

By the sound of it they must have known that it had a fault running.
I would go back and get some recompense and if a trader return the car until fixed especially if description didn’t match what you got.
Regards

Excuse me asking, and my apologies if I'm putting 2 and 2 together and making 7, but it wouldn't be this one would it?

"STARTS AND DRIVES WITH NO ISSUES"
If it stalls then that's dangerous on an Auto.
Of course we are assuming this is the car

Hi everybody thanks for all your help about the erratic running of my new car. I have been a little slow to respond due to the fact that I contacted the seller the next day and he said I could return the car if I pay for the return I pointed out to him that as he had put a new fuel filter just before he sent it knew it was faulty and also pointed out that he said he had been driving it, how come the mileage on the clock was the same as the MOT 2015. Meaning it had been in a barn In my view it hadn't even gone for the new MOT so how did it get one ? I wanted to wait till I got the £2600 back even if it did cost me £400 to trailer it both ways . Finally Mr. Roger Pennington who answered me should be on tv Countdown for getting 2+2 to make 7 and also getting that the ad was for the black car reg. A2OGX. so if I was you I would keep well clear of this Scimitar even if it looks good and remember LOOKS CAN KILL.

Perhaps the 'error in the listing' was about the claim to it starts and drives no issues! MOT mileage could be down to broken mileometer of course
Shame you've had a bad experience, hope you don't give up there are plenty knocking about
