Se6a rear wiper rubber mount

Post by scimitargtc » Thu Jul 11, 2019 3:15 pm

Safely stored the rubber mount that fits over the rear wiper spindle, got the metal shroud and nut but not the “grommet”. I seem to recall it was almost unobtainium when I bought it from gw’s But before I make a heap of calls does anyone know if it is an easily sourced item please.

Richard are you meaning the Rubber part that goes INSIDE the car, as the thread above is only about the Chrome OUTER cover and nut.

If you've got the old washer as a pattern it's easy enough to cut one by hand from a sheet of rubber (or old thick inner tube). I didn't have the old one (except in bits!) and like the OP found it impossible to source. However, rubber aerial mounts are widely available and they are similar shape. Problem is, they're about a fiver apiece, and by the time you've found one to fit you may as well do what I did, and spend £7.50 on the Triumph kit, then just use the rubber washer from it. Or, as I did, use the whole kit as it's nice and shiny, and not pitted like your original metal cover will be by now.

Update: even better value, get a pair of washers from Mini Spares, at £6.30

(I haven't tried these myself, but they look to be pretty much the same as the Triumph parts, at least as far as the washer goes.)

The key to these parts as always is knowing what to call them. Once you know the name (courtesy of Google Images) then finding the part becomes a lot easier. The individual washer is called a WIPER WHEELBOX SEAL and you can get it for just 65p here:
