1989 Scimitar TI 1809cc - Guidance Appreciated

Post by Turbo89 » Fri May 25, 2018 2:35 pm

Hi - I’ve recently joined as I’ve inherited a 1989 Scimitar TI from my father. Sadly I don’t have the space to keep it or the time to make the most of it and would appreciate any guidance from those in the know on what the typical marketplace value is for a model of this type? Good condition, MOT, tax, with hard top and 1809cc TI engine. Please can anyone help with even a ball-park range?

Also if anyone had any guidance on the best routes to finding a buyer for Scimitars that would also be appreciated.

Thanks
Turbo89

All down to condition.

If I was selling one I’d price it as follows:-

Scruffy with MOT £1500 +
Average with MOT £2500-£3500
Above average £3500-£4500
Mint show £4500-£7000

Performance mods can make quite a difference to price too.

Hi, some pictures would help pitch it in Corky's table and if you let us know where you're based someone might be able to come and assist with advice and pitching the price.

I don’t think that’s the same car. The stories are similar though.

Gents - thanks for your guidance. That’s not my eBay post. Trying to pull together the relevant details now. I would place it in the Average with MOT bracket most likely. Will see if I can share some photos.

Car located in Gloucestershire if anyone is in that neck of the woods, juat outside of Cheltenham. A few details I do have: 62k miles, blue with grey interior (black detachable hard-top), all in good condition. Not run often so will need to turn ir over and maybe have a service before it properly goes on the market to ensure it’s running smoothly.

I’m in Gloucester and have a workshop/barn near North Cerney if you want to pop up some time? Also monthly meet (noggin) is second Tuesday at the Royal William in Cranham.

I’m a newbie on the site and joined as I’m looking for an SS1 (a lad of the 80s just now getting the chance to get one). Turbo89 - I’ll keep watching out for updates for when it’s ready. Would be great to see some photos.
