G130 YCF sprint car

Post by Dcrosby13 » Sun Mar 22, 2020 11:04 pm

We have finally hit a major milestone today and got the car running on the Omex 710 after the usual non self inflicted trials that seem to haunt us. To celebrate I have decided to push on with the first large carbon fibre panels in the form of the MK1 doors which are a hybrid of the standard door, at the end of this season I will take moulds of these and prodce the MK2 versions as light as possible.

Due to the government announcement the rolling road has shut, I'm beginning to think this car will never be finished

I'm sure it will mate. Everything happens for a reason. You could've dodged a virus shaped bullet by not going

Disappointing I know but here’s the positive...
-You have the car back in a running state
-You can now spend time rechecking everything you did while rushing to get it ready in time for the RR, to make sure it’s right
-you can start fettling all the things that weren’t imperative for the RR
-and when you thing you’re done you can come up with a couple on new ideas to move it forward again 😂

We’re probably not racing until June at the earliest so plenty of time to get it bang on
Good work so far 👏

I reassembled clutch and gearbox but clutch still slipping so I’ve ordered a 6paddle clutch.
Due to arrive tomorrow.

Went for a 20mile blast yesterday and even with the iffy clutch was still epic. No passenger door,no passenger seat, no bonnet, no gbox tunnel so sound from exhaust and induction was fantastic whilst doing 7250 rpm and flat out on deserted A roads
