The blue stuff Ben; we always buy the pre-mixed stuff for about £5 for 5L.

I was chatting to Josh about your purchase ealier.

You must get the car to a Sprint next year :!: Aintree is a great first venue; only 3 corners but fast :) Loads of runs to. Next on the list should by Ty Croes

Good luck with the car :!:

Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it Ben.

I was very glad that I found a buyer that can actually fit into it, those seats aren't very generous :w ............which is why the car was sold with 'em still in it

I’ve got a spare indicator Ben. I can’t remember if they’re handed, but I’ve got both sides available. Which side do you need?

I can drop one in the post on Monday.

I hope you have fun with it.

I don't know what competition driving you've done before, but the best advice is to get as much competition seat time as possible. As long as a car is basically sound, with no major issues, then you will just go faster with more practice. Resisting making big changes allows you to get used to the car and get consistency too. Being able to compare times with fellow competitors also gives you an idea of what to aim for and you can ask advice of them too.

Once you know what the car does, it should be easier to gauge the affect of any changes you do make.

A previous previous owner had disconnected the otter switch and wired to just a switch in the cabin. Also fitted a bigger fan.

Temp gauge mostly stayed in the middle but with some heavy right foot got to nearly the red so switched fan on.

When got home and cooled down dropped the coolant, fitted a new otter switch from QRG flushed and filled system. The new otter switch comes on when the red warning light starts to flash and goes off 10 seconds before the light has gone off.... is this normal??

I will be relaying the fan and a manual override/ otter to control

Cheers all
Ben

Sounds like you’re missing the inline resistor for the temp gauge. Check with an IR temp gun.

Item 3. above:
I don't know about sprinting, but for rallying you are not allowed to have movable seats, HRCR suggests putting a jubilee clip around the mechanism once you've got them into the best position, to lock them in place.

Also, re: the fan operation and the flashing red light, I know nothing about the SS1 circuitry, but I imagine that the light is switched by a separate circuit, so there could be a lag between the otter switch reaching its "off" temperature when the fan stops, and the engine block getting cool enough to switch off the light sensor. Perhaps?

Cheers Jim I will borrow the thermal image camera from work next week what is the stat open temperature?

I've looked on Peter Freemans wiring diagram and think w15 is the led for high engine temp can't see from the diagram how it is switched on though, is it from T6 into the ecu?
