Manny's SS1 1600

I’d say a bit of both (based on experience)- boot liner out, and using an electric pump (in my case an in-tank injection pump) as a vacuum cleaner and suck up the water/contaminated fuel off the bottom of the tank, leaving the good petrol still in the tank.

This doesn’t work too well if your fuel level is above the sender though..luckily I was sucking it from a tank with a top mount sender/pump.

The only issue I have is that the car is parked on the street- the tank out will probably be best long term - will see how the electric pump pans out first , if I can get the car running long enough to get it on the drive

Success!!! :D :D :D :D :D

using the electric pump and the car jacked up and level ( spirit level! on the boot) i ran the tank dry (hopefully) into a 25L container! (10 -12 mins) now i was waiting for the fluid to run clear- it never happened !! the container almost 3/4 full - all the liquid being pumped was milky white!!
I added 10L of fresh fuel - the car fired up - i then went to the forecourt and filled another 10L- okay all the way back home...and relax.
Tomorrow i will take the car to work.... i suspect the float bowl will probably need to be inspected as well...at the weekend.
Thanks folks for the suggestions and resolutions!!!

indeed !! - as it was very hot today- and traffic\works seem to around every corner between Dudley and Smethwick - i was very nervous about the car conking out - but it was faultless ! - i also got a reminder that my MOT runs out on Sat- so it's booked for Thursday morning... for now i will enjoy it until Thursday's results.
I also placed my hand on the amp ( mounted on the bulkhead) and it was just warm rather than very hot...so hopefully that's the end of over cooking the amp.
Out of interest has any one moved the coil to a more accessible location?

I honestly think that the amp and coil may have been a red herring. Original coil on mine has never left it's bracket, and the only time I had issue with the amp was when there was a heater / coolant pipe resting ontop of it!

Now if you'd only followed up on the suggestion on page 2 of water in your fuel back in 2016....

true to a point sir ...i did look into the amp overheating\breaking down and did see an article on a Morgan website - also i did have an amp fail...so i guess i latched onto that as resolution with the ' that's what fixed it last time approach' as we do from time to time...but yes agree lesson learnt..

found it..

Nope, just moved it down so only held on with a single bolt through the TOP hole and slackened the clamp so easy slide in/out of the coil if needed at road side without tools :-)

it failed :( but not a surprise as the fail was a minor defect last year..

Major defect:
Offside Steering rack has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel.
minor
Nearside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
Oil leak, but not excessive (8.4.1 (a) (i)) ( that will be the camshaft seal i still need to replace)
Offside Rear Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
