I was obviously too subtle in my sarcasm - I couldn’t see you tarnishing this build with some Ripspeed tat.

Must use more smileys

No, I got it. I just thought I'd make my position clear!

I reckon one of these would look 'tiddly' fitted to door shell so covers exhaust stub when door closed?

That took me a while to figure out what I was looking at, for any one else who was feeling as dim as me, see below (1F).

I don't suppose the CA18DET has been compared (however tenuous) to a Rolls Royce Merlin before!

given the BBP 'handle' I was looking for an image of the 1E bottom type as I thought it was 'better looking' but couldn't find any . . . ..

but maybe given the shortage of exhaust pipe and (potential) fire-breathing then maybe 1E top version would fit in with correct motor sport regulations ? ? ??

I've got a flashy new wheel, just one mind.

A guy at work gave me this MX5 spare wheel. My plan is to have a set of skinny (standard size) wheels for the car to sit on in winter, so the race wheels & tyres can be removed & stored properly. Also the front & rear wings can come off so it takes up less space in the garage. The tyres on there at the moment are used tyres that I bought for the build, so I could get the ride height & clearances all right. However, the diameter of the MX5 spare is too small, here it is against the race wheel:

It's 35mm too small on the diameter, which is quite a lot when the (final) ride height is only going to be around the 75 - 90mm mark.

So, is anyone intersted in a swap? I'm after a set of 4 off 13" or 14" SS1 steel wheels with standard size tyres of any condition, as long as they hold air. In return, I've got a set of 4 KN Aztec wheels 15 x 7J with 5" backspace. These were on the car when I bought it. They have some old Yokohama A048 tyres 205/50 x 15. They don't have the centre caps and could do with some refurbishment, see below:

Come this way good sir.....

I have a spare set of 13 in steels with tyres holding air if that would suit.

Are you after a swap RR, or offering the opportunity of a purchase?

Feel a straight swap would leave you a little short in the bargain, but I am certainly interested in the 15's in some sort of exchange. PM inbound

Although my SS1 is going to be a race car, I thought I'd bring it bang up-to-date, by fitting some swanky LED DRL's (that's Daytime Running Lights). I took plenty of time aligning them and getting the fitment just right, to ensure that I got a unique light signature; I wouldn't want anyone mistaking it for a Jaguar F-type in the dusk! So it had to be unique and here it is, I think it's a strong look:

Now, I just need to find a much, much longer 240v extension lead for racing.

Merry Christmas to all dabbling on Scimitarweb

is that not a typo, it should read 'its got a strange look' ?

Run an inverter?

If sticking with the extension lead plan, you’ll only need half the length for circuit racing as you keep going round in circles?
