Good day all ,

the radiator has been installed along with the grommets , i have the two steel coolant pipes mariating in some vinegar, hopefully get the system back together next weekend.I have given myself a MOT deadline for end of March..i have another EU road trip in April to Huesca at the foot of the Pryenees...it would be cool to take the Ti!...
Getting there...very slowly..
Ta
That sounds like progress, looking forward to hear about the trip,I'm assuming you will break the journey halfway,I'm off to mid France at the end of the summer think I can do it in one go ,keep up the progress! :D

Hi Colin,

I have a 190e that i purchased just to attend my cousin's wedding in Tuscany last May...we did that two up without stopping!! 27hrs and 2.5 tanks of fuel..1100 miles..
So that will my preference as it's an auto and very relaxed\lazy to drive..
This new trip is just that..no plans etc, but as we have 2 days to get to our destination, our plan is a coastal drive and then head inwards, it will probably double the distance, but while we still can....
If the Ti is ready..you never know...

Ta

Manny
2days sounds the right relaxing way to do it ,I've done the south of France in that way and it's about the same distance 👍

Good day all
I left the steel cooling pipes marinating in some vinegar over a few weeks...I had to order the single one as it had a hole..from mx5parts..owned by a member I believe..

Should I get the twin one powder coated ..and will that process coat the inside..or does not it matter?
Or I can dip the unit in some zinc primer..

MX5 parts is a trading name of Scimitar International - although Val Walker (who started it) sold up a few years ago (after branching into the more lucrative MX5 market).

I’d just paint the outside of the pipe with a paint of your choice - the inside should be fine as long as you keep it suitably dosed with corrosion inhibitor (antifreeze).

MX5 parts world on eBay however is a trading account of RPW and do have various Reliant bits listed.

Powdercoat isn't likely to give an even coating through the entirety of the pipe I should think, and probably not the best thing to have failing unseen if so.

Another vote for a good coat of quality paint. A good antifreeze mix should in theory contain enough rust inhibitor to prevent the pipe rusting away quickly.
