GOT ONE!!!....NEVER GIVE UP!

Post by 747PETE » Tue Jun 18, 2013 9:43 pm

:) After months of searching,driving hundreds of miles,e-mailing,phone calls etc.........we have an SE5a sitting outside :) :)
I had to get her recovered as a few issues but all in all great scope for a nice car.Even my better half likes it!!I will post some snaps tomorow as quite tired now and I am sure Jim will be on my case soon :)
Its a 75 with manual and overdrive and a Webasto sunroof,on Dunlops, its known to some members as well from the past.Needs a liitle tlc to some parts of the body and a few engine issues,so I will be drawing up a list to badger everyone with soon.So don't give up,they are lurking out there somewhere.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Congrats on completion of the easy bit

The wife likes it ... you sure she wasn't humouring you ?

Wait till you spend more time in the garage than the house ....

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.

Well,I need to keep a low profile and fit some new windows in the house....keep the better looking one happy.............thing is,I have (well last year) finished 7 years hard labour on another rebuild,so best try and keep this one low key (fat chance!!).I have just been going through its past life (all the bills and every single MOT),the strange thing is,it lived around here for a long time, used the same suppliers as I do now and believe it or not,MOTs from the very early Eighties were done by our local garage I have been using for 21 years!!What a strange world we live in...........this car came from Rugby!

Her are some first snaps, first thing will be to unbolt (well a contradiction in terms on a Scimitar!),the front cross member, behind the front bumper and attend to some rust. Then sort out some wiring, then sort out the fuel pipes, then the rough running...................are you getting the picture?!A guy turned up to read the water meter to-day,then he spotted the SE5a.............left 1 hour later!!Ah its telling me the picture file is too big...........so how do I reduce it guys??

Best to use a third party host like photobucket (although that's had it's own problems recently) - otherwise I find it simplest to just open in MSPaint (if you're on MS Windows) and resize.

Very chuffed,it was worth all the hassle............quite a lot to sort out but looking forward to getting it sorted, this car spent most of its early life all around here, how spooky is that
