So do I, can never have too much work !! :) For jobs done in a glorified cow shed they seem to come out OK for the price :)

It looks very different! I've only known the car as it's well used, light metalic green since first meeting Shaun at a hillclimb in 2001. It's still wearing the Middlebridge wheels I sold to him circa 2003 though.

I was so amazed by the transformation that I forgot to offer Dave a cup of tea when he returned the car yesterday - sorry, and thanks once again.

A cup of tea !?!?!?!

After that job I think at least a bourbon and a few custard creams are called for !

I am curious, though... I recall Dave's post (was it on here, or on his FB page?) where he said he was scraping the old stuff off like the skin on a custard (albeit somewhat harder!) - but what exactly *was* the previous paint that it split and peeled the way it did? It reminded me of Fablon back in the 60s, when with age it shrank and split and left all the exposed areas sticky with adhesive... yuk !

That's amazing and I bet it looks even better in the flesh. Mark, I suspect the smile hasn't left your face yet! :)

I'm astonished at just how bad the paint was. It has steadily deteriorated over the years and obviously had several (many!) layers. I remember it from the Sabre Days at Droys Court in the 80s when it was pretty immaculate. There's a picture of it in action in 1985 (with a very young Shaun Byrne) on Jeff Craske's site: http://jeffcraske.wixsite.com/index/1985-sabre-day. It was fitted with 100+ Octavos then.

I was quite shocked when I spotted myself in the background of some of the photos on the site, I didn't realise I was quite that old! :D

Wow, Trevor Shortt's coupe (WPL 394G) looks a bit different there!

Yes, owned by Graham Shepherd then. Terry Cox did quite a bit of work on it around that time, the most obvious being the fitting of Les Trafford's headlamp covers.

Graham was the event doctor at the Sabre Days, I was Clerk of the Course, Don Pither cracked the whip! Happy days. :D

Ah, SRE went to Nick Hall about 4 years ago and has since had a Speedy piant job. WPL is still with me. First time I've seen this photo. Thanks for posting the link. Will do a then and now on the FB page as I can't manage the photobook fiddling with my tech skill......

I only ride 'em - I dunno what makes them work
