Looks like it will do the job but would need to remove the lip on top edge?

Cheers

Ah yes, I saw that whilst hunting. But I discounted it, as it’s not really wide enough for my liking. It needs to be about 10-15mm wider to sit flush against the door-seal lip. Very close though.

Steve what have you used for the seal at the top of the window sealing the window to the hardtop?

Do you mean the little rubber wotsit that pushes into the quarter light or the seal along the edge of the hard top?

I meant the seal along the top but now you mention it the wotsit as well!

The wotsit is a standard part, available as reproductions from GW (circa £15 a pop last time I asked). The other seal is just a length of standard door seal (probably what I had left over from a GTC rebuild).

I think the wear of the "Wotsit" if that's the bit or rubber at top of quarterlight is non-essential. It's all to do with does the window glass seal up against the rubber seal of the hard/soft-top
I've had old and new "Wotsits" and really the difference in Zilch. Glass needs to close against rubber of hard/soft top.The Wotsit prevents a small air gap that can cause noise at high speed, but then only appropriate for a concours/sunday-afternoon car as at any speed it will not figure in general ss1 noise.

Not much to report.

I've rebuilt the turbo I took off the car. The oil rings were shot and the journals were worn. I had a look to see if I could find a new compressor shaft, but couldn't find anything that categorically said it would fit my turbo, so just rebuilt it with the original. There's less play in shaft, so it'll do as an emergency spare should I need one.

I've stripped the car's original engine (yes the one I sold and then bought back), and I'm in the process of fitting new shells and piston rings. Once built, I'll pair this with the MK2 gearbox I've fitted an modified S13 quick shifter to.

And today, I've rebuilt the hard top. Removed the alloy trim from the bottom edge (I didn't have the insert to go with it) and fitted some edge trim. Fitted an MGB hood seal (I think it's a bit thick but gives a very good seal). I just need to fit some gutters (pending some innovation by another forum member :D ).

Steve

How did you attach the head seal to the hardtop?

When at Croft I had a drip coming in above the quarter light frame is there a mod to stop that leak?

Cheers

I attached the seal with some evo-stick contact adhesive. But before I did that I cut the bead off the bottom of the seal to reduce the depth. I also cut, re-shaped and super-glued the ends of the hood seal to round them off.

The quaterlight leak is a feature.... It can be improved if you have a bit of give in the hood to stretch it around the gap and re-glue it to the header rail. When I finish putting the hard top on, I will be using some silicone in the area between the door and hood seals.

.......and knocked a couple of these up to secure it at the rear. Just need to neaten them up a bit and shorten the bolt.

Took my top off to re-seal the rear window. I don't have any fixings at the back; I might nick that idea unless the previous owner has any going spare
