Nice touch with the speedo cable Steve :) :)
(Wish I'd should have thought of that, but can still make that mod if necessary).

Thanks Trevor. I had the same problem on the Sabre, but decided to run the speedo cable under the carpet. I’m hoping this will be a better solution.

The Lotus seat arrived......

....and it fits the space really well. Trouble is, I just think it's too small for me. The MR2 seat feels like a better solution, as it has a height adjuster and it reclines. Meaning that I can get properly comfortable, and it'll adjust easily for other drivers. Not only that, but it'll take the seatbelt clip as per the original. We're still heading towards RG with this car for 2018.

So we're going with this:-

It's not yet bolted in. I need to secure some eye bolts to the chassis for the harness, then I can get it bolted down.

If anyone wants a Lotus Elise seat for £100, drop me a PM. They're about £250+ each on eBay... form an orderly queue

Not much has progressed on the car over the last couple of weeks.

I finally got the MR2 seat rails trimmed and drilled to fit the new cross-members. Whilst I was at it I created a recess in the square tube so that the bolts were not exposed below the rails. The seat is now bolted into place, and I'm pleased to say the MR2 seat is pretty much perfect. The main benefit is that the seat base raises and lowers, which will be handy when changing between shorter and taller drivers.

Socket sized hole to allow access to the recessed seat bolt. The steel is thicker than the U section that Reliant used, so this seemed sensible. It'll be sealed with a grommet eventually.

Doesn't touch the door. I was worried it may be too wide.

Next up. I fitted the rear end of the cage, and mocked up the fuel tank. (I need to get the filler hose a touch higher)

Filled the gaps around the back stays by taping card to the underside of the parcel shelf and filling the gaps with chopped strand.

That's it for now. I may yet have a fuel tank made rather than using this one, still undecided........
