This is the eurospeed item that seems to be discontinued. Looking closely, I think it might use two of the engine mount holes anyway?

In fact, I’m not even sure that’s a silvertop?

Nope - that’s a Duratec.

I might have exhaust clearance problems?

Just don't turn left! Simple.

More pics of the alternator and water pump arrangement, doesn't look like there's much space for anything!

After lots of careful measuring, I thought that the nice alloy sump would slightly foul the crossmember. option 1 was to remove the crossmember (as per K series Sabre), option 2 was to remove some of the sump

Lots more clearance issues to solve - the exhaust hit the heater motor. 2 options, remove the heater motor or modify it. It already has an unknown motor grafted into a Reliant casing, so fitting something with a smaller fan (and lighter) was easy enough, then chop a section out of the casing and weld up (pics to follow).

The alternator needed a notch taking out of the engine mount (which needs some strength adding back later) and it’s still close with the water pump outlet and the expansion tank lower pipe.

Then the oil filter housing again. I didn’t like the spacers on the RH engine mount, so I cut a lot more alloy off the filter housing, a bit off the engine mount - and eventually it all fitted. Mounted the EDIS unit on a chunk of alloy as a heatsink (where the coil normally goes in the pic below) and dropped the inlet on loosely - now the final check next weekend is bonnet clearance.

This would be a bad time to mention I think I’ve found (whilst looking for something else completely) a possible adaptor to move the oil filter away from the block...

Jim,

I think a Zetec is a great conversion, but does it risk putting you in Libre .?

RG specialist production Nick.

11.1.2. Road-Going Specialist Production Cars – Cars with a minimum annual production of 20 Chassis which do not qualify as Road-Going Series Production Cars. (Saloons and Sports Cars produced in quantities of not less than 1000 per annum.)
11.5.2. For Road-Going Specialist Production Cars, the cylinder block and head must be of a make and type produced in at least 1,000 identical units originally available through the normal commercial channels of a land vehicle manufacturer.

Jim,

That makes sense, I know there is some controversy over standard versus specialist, but no doubt best addressed on an individual basis.

Checked that the bonnet fits then spent most of the day finishing the LH Engine/alternator mount - but didn’t take any photos :D

Also finished off the heater motor - slightly smaller motor and fan from some random Japanese car.
