Measured the required length at 600mm, so I ordered the 750mm cable - £15 with VAT & postage.

I need to sort the throttle stop, replace the interior kill switch (somehow managed to snap the handle at Gurston :? ) and charge the go-pro and remote before Prescott.

So, third place was most unexpected this year and plans are afoot for a bit more power next year.

This happened before Christmas

So that’s the mock-up engine that Phil had in KAB. Decompression plate and turbo fitted so I need to remove the plate and the turbo oil feed, as well as blanking off the turbo oil return boss in the sump.

It has a new clutch fitted, the correct Sierra starter and the correct alloy sump to clear the SS1 lower crossmember.

It’s a 2 litre block with ARP bolts and a Rover inlet TIG welded to the 1800 head, then the ends cut off the plenum and welded on the opposite side, to give a forward facing throttle body.

CCT133 clutch release bearing ordered as well as a Zetec to CVH exhaust manifold adaptor plate (minimum hassle and I get to keep the free flow exhaust that’s fitted already). Probably going with Megasquirt.

Nope - if I wanted a turbo I’d probably fit a Ti or DET :D

I’d love to supercharge a CVH but just don’t have the time to develop it at the moment.

True, how much power are you hoping for?

Ooooh like where this is going. Does this mean KAB will be being rightfully returned to CVH power (although I recall the original engine was thieved)

That’s the plan this week.. :D and yes, the original was indeed thieved.

Funnily enough one of the possible engines makes a very sneaky guest appearance in the photo but stands a chance of being close to original (1600 and carb) of which that one is neither.

Luckily I still have the pushmepullyou dizzy and made-specifically exhaust manifold.

I’ve got an Alfasud turbo DRLA carb (as used on Big Bob so downdraught) sitting in a box which I only found still existed after a Zetec had found its way into the mix.

If I was doing a small capacity carb’d turbo build I would use a SU carb as fitted to MG metro/maestro/montego.

I worked for jag in the 80s and turbo maestros / Montegos were brilliantly quick but I thought they were EFI.

Nope - still ran an SU carb. Montego and Maestro had an electronic idle and choke system so I adjusted a Metro one as they have a manual choke..
