Purple Peril outside, covered in moss having not turned a wheel since November.

Long list of ideas, but no time yet to figure out the sensible order to do things in:

Lighten doors.
Sling tank and associated chassis iron and replace with mid-mounted 10l alloy number.
Send shocks for rebuild.
Speak to Danny about sorting geometry.
Buy tyres. Or slicks. Or a full set of wheels and slicks.
Make arch extensions to accomodate new wheels.
Repair/shorten exhaust manifolds.
Move engine rearwards in chassis.
Recommission after winter outside - new pull-cables, underbonnet birthday etc.
Continue to think about affording new engine.

I do now have not only a trailer, but also a car with a towbar, however, so we've taken a step in the right direction.

Did the split rims come from a source you can share? Grateful if you would PM me if so.

i will take a pic of my car when i remember, just a barely rolling chassisand cage on the trailer for last 12months+, looking very sorry for itself

as for the splitties, ive just picked up inners and outers for last 18 months or so, often buying wheels and splitting them apart and flogging off the sections i didnt want to get the right widths and offsets. The centres were ford 108mm PCD, with inserts made and welded in, and re-PCD'd to 100m by Ian Jemmison Engineering as 100mm centres are uber rare.

new a set of splitties is approaching a grand or 1500 for billets like my other 15" set so slowly slowly catchy monkey it had to be.

Dermot Healeys a great guy for ex race car wheels and sections.

For your car, i'll bet the offsets and clearances may be better, be worth looking at one piece Compomotive CXRs. just over 100 quid a corner isnt bad and close to splittie weights without the hassle. If i re design the wishbones and trailing arms, i may get a set myself.

Might be worth asking Alan Furness (geordie GTE sprinter with holley carb? you may have met him?) as he has a set of revoltion split rim copies that he ordered from abroad and they were very good money and shiny too
if you need his number or email let me know and i will dig them out

more parts collated.

An uber cool carbon 'tart' part, a manifold from Australia, a Ford V8 Falcon engine component , some new bits for the new diff and sourced some other parts to be purchased. Rear suspension is almost decided upon, designs 90% there, just a couple of pickup points and source for 2 items left. Rear discs may need changing too.
Front suspension i have 3 conflicting ideas, i have one mocked up, think ill end up mocking one more up before i commit.
Hoping to collect a spare rusty chassis to practice the surgery on before hacking up the galv chassis.

Fuel system Bosch 044 pump, swirl pot etc is all bought except fuel lines. Still need to commit to an engine and box combo, but the idea is to see what space can be made in the tunnel and that should help make that decision

not really mate, just have good direction on all other areas, engine/box combo is least important in the scheme of things.

few have asked to see the car as it is....
not exactly inspiring im afraid.

picked up a spare non galv chassis (thankyou Dave 'Mr http://www.sporting-reliants.com' Poole 8) ) to use as a guinea pig for the surgery.
well beyond repair, but perfect for hacking about rather than using the galv one. All mods can be mocked up and then transferred over if they are suitable.

Think Bernie's just come up with an engine option for you?

22 Jun 2011 14:54:00
F1 - F1 Commission agrees V6 engine rules for 2014
Jun.22 (GMM) Formula one has taken another step towards overturning the scheduled 2013 engine rules. We reported on Sunday that Bernie Ecclestone summoned a meeting of the F1 Commission to take place at Heathrow airport on Wednesday. On the agenda was the formal scuttling of Jean Todt's four-cylinder regulations, because F1 chief executive Ecclestone as well as engine makers Ferrari, Mercedes and Cosworth were opposed.Ecclestone is arguing that Todt improperly introduced the four-cylinder rules without first going to the F1 Commission, and the whisper on Wednesday is that the body has now ''unanimously'' rubber-stamped an alternative.Telegraph correspondent Tom Cary revealed on Wednesday that F1 will stick with its current V8 engines through 2013 and then switch in 2014 to a new turbo 1.6 litre V6 formula.''Unconfirmed as yet,'' he clarified. The Times' Kevin Eason agreed: ''A whiff of compromise. Fascinating engine configuration though.''Cary said the new rules will be voted on via fax by the World Motor Sport Council on Monday.

as it was slashing down wit rain all day so couldnt play with the TVR or SST, thought id crack on with the racer.

pics show Ford drum brake bearing carrier that the rear uprights are designed for, and the ss1 versions i want to use.
good old MDF to mock up the adaptor plate to mount the bearing carrier and the caliper.
Calipers will be VAG ally calipers but using the Raldes sliding caliper carrier mount as the offsets better for my needs

not a lot of caliper to wheel inner clearance either. 240mm discs and 13" wheels. In fact they wont fit with cast ally rims only spun ally split rims

OK, this is an odd post, but ive decided to put the remains of Batmobile up for sale
Ive been collating parts for last 2 years, ie 3 diffs, 4 gearboxes, lots of other goodies.
Ive come to the conclusion that it will take me 18months to 2 years to rebuild once i have the decks cleared of the SST and the resto of my TVR, and at current pace of 'car work' that equates to 3 or 4 years time :( . We have been planning to put our house up for sale towards the end of this year with the plan to build a house with the proceeds (OK, if i have my way large garage with a house attached ;-)
Ive decided to put the parts up for sale. If they sell, and i hope they do, then great, the funds will go towards the house build, and if they dont they will get mothballed for 5 years. Our firm is massively busy at the moment, so im putting in long hours too, hopefully in a few years i can afford to pay Iain Daniels to build my car!
I do intend on keeping a few bits, in case i buy a car thats already built when i do have time to compete.

Ive also considered that in 1-2 years i may have the time to compete and the money spare, so would look at a dual drive situation or half share in a car etc, but what i definitely dont have is the 18months to build the Batmobile  .

i will put a For Sale ad up in a bit and ad bits as i find them
