I have been told of a Scimitar in the next street to me. Its a White 5 A with matching Revolution wheels and a black interior - reg GTE 45N.

Looks like its been parked up for a long time, with peeling paint a hole in one of the side windows. The weather is bound to have got in.

I have googled the reg and the owner has been on the forum in the recent past and was very active years ago.

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=25899

I have knocked on the door a couple of times, but not managed to get a response yet. I have just PM'd him so you never know. Will try again - might just need a neighbour to gee him/her up a bit.

Re post from Detour regarding SE5a information.

i am new on here and joined for 2 reasons. 1 i have been looking at a scimitar for a V8 project for a while and also because i saw this post. not sure this is the right place to respond but i am sure someone will put me right if its not.

PJH 4L belonged to a work colleague of mine and i actually went to see it as a potential platform for the V8 last weekend. he owned the car from being 21 for 7 years (it was already secondhand) and then the car was put into a garage when the family came along. that was in 1984 (i think) it never moved since then. the garage was a concrete affair off his property and was very damp. when i went to see it there were some spare engine parts in there that had completely rusted through and daffodils growing on the garage roof!

it came out of the garage 29.01 2016 when i pulled it out with a strap and a pickup. no wheels would turn, the doors were firmly stuck shut (despite using the keys and lots of release oil) as was the rear door. underneath the vehicle was pretty sorry, the exhausts rusted through and dropped off at the rear, removing the drivers front wheel showed completely rusted out caliper, discs and back plate. no amount of "persuasion" seemed to want to get the wheel (or any of the other wheels) to turn. the vehicle was located in Sandhurst and as you can see from my profile i am in Cheshire so it had to go onto a trailer... after a few hours of cursing and sweating we had to admit defeat. of course now the car was outside the garage and wouldn't roll so we couldn't put it back in... it was decided at that point to sell on to a "we remove any car.com" type establishment. at that time all the windows were in tact though.

the engine blew up at some time during his ownership, when it was an automatic, and was replaced. at the same time a manual gearbox was added (with overdrive i was informed) so that explains the automatic sign on the back

i have a few pictures of its discovery i will try to put on here... i need to read that up... so in summary...

congratulations on your purchase, it has gone to someone who has greater vision and quite probably better mechanical skills than i do. it just wasnt the one for me. it looks better than i remember it now though... i wonder if i made a mistake????

sorry my first post is such a long one. i thought you may want to know.... :D

Whilst digging for info on a purchase, I turned this little list up. Thought it may be of interest to the registrars, if it hasn't been seen before.

The car isn't on the Register. I assume the engine is original, so I can work out the chassis number. A photo would be good.
