Weight SE5

Post by Jens » Fri Sep 28, 2018 9:00 am

Does anyone know the exact kerb weight of an SE5? Unloaded, no fuel.

Wikipedia says 1.207 kgs (too much methinks), other sources say 990 kgs (not enough imho).

....The figure of 2,240lbs is imprinted on what is left of my cabbaged brain, for some reason!
....However, having just had a look in the 'Owner's Handbook' - (Repro.) the 'Kerb' weight is given as 2,500lbs (SE5)...Max. towing weight: 20cwt.

Kerb weight includes a tank of fuel and a driver, IIRC.

The one I listed above is the car on its own.

877kg would require the engine and box removed!

The compies weigh theirs each season
John Louchs stripped out racer is 955kg, crusty Crouchs near stock one with fullinterior plus tow bar is 1200kg

Above are without driver, but with half tank of fuel and all fluids

I did wonder about the figure...but the figures given to the FIA are always correct (*cough* RS200 production figures *cough*)

My '75 SE5a automatic was weighed when it was imported and registered here. The scales (which were calibrated and certified) showed 1110 kg with a full tank of petrol.
