Stuck in Second

Post by Covpath » Mon Feb 19, 2018 9:00 am

Hi Team

My SE5a is stuck in second. All was well apart from gear changes being a bit stiff when it decided to remain in second. Gearstick flaps around front to back but not much left to right movement. Any ideas for most likely cause? Will I see more by getting it over an inspection pit - care of my capable friend Geoff?

Thanks++

Paul

Assuming it's the 3 rod box then it's a pretty safe guess it's current only got 2 rods connected (correctly)..

I'll have access to an inspection pit later in the week. From p67 in the manual it looks like I'll be able to see the problem from below? I'll let you know how i get on.
Thanks again
Paul

It should become self-evident which one is flapping around that shouldn't be. It is likely to be where the lever bolts onto the side of the gearbox - they're slotted where thy fit onto the stub comes out of the side plate, and supposed to be held on with a Nyloc nut from memory. Be careful that the stub doesn't fall back into the gearbox otherwise I think it's fun and games time trying to get all the detent balls and springs back in where they should be..
