Or a big hammer and a nut in a vice to make the top of the nuts a bit more oval & therefore more self-locking ?
If the parts are NEW from QRG then that should NOT be performed :o

Eric I think you could try using a 3/8 unf nut on top of the correct Ford nut and use it to hold the tappet gaps.
I prefer half nuts, I don't like glue for the rocker arm

Stover nuts..

You should be able to get (in the U.K. anyway) 3/8” UNF half nuts?
Edit for Eric: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112564692069 - ships world wide. Shame they come in packs of 10 when you need 12...
Thank you for the link, 20 nuts are not expensive

What I can`t understand is how the rockers are undoing the NEW nuts, they should be a very tight fit unless the threads on the post is buggered.

It's no longer possible to buy new nuts, so QRG sold me a set that they repaired/tightened.
Despite these new nuts my rocker arms get out of place or the installation of half nuts
I asked myself the question of replacing the studs of the rockers arms but I don't know if it's possible to do that

There doesn't look like all that many threads being used on those half-nuts; I'd hate to hear of one popping off . . . . Would using twin half-nuts be more prudent?

I can't help myself - I have to ask questions and find out why. Why ? Dunno

The half nuts are in addition to the original nuts

What a load of Cr@p !!!!!!!!
I wish you had asked me first Eric, I could have saved you a lot of messing about.
May I ask how much you paid for faulty nuts??.
I have around 50 Very Good used nuts AND a set of Brand New Ford nuts.

Your stud threads must be VERY bad though if they need locknuts.

There are is more than One Way to skin a cat, I could still provide you with a special kit to remove the Worn studs, and replace them with good ones while the heads are still in place.
I still have your details from the previous parts I supplied you.

Yes, I understand; I meant that two half-nuts would lock the rockers well, and the top half-nut would then be well on the stud because of the reduced overall nut-height. At present, because the standard nut is tall, the half-nut is struggling for a good amount of thread to use.

On the other hand, the standard setup is usually perfectly fine, so maybe talk to gtcse8 (Mark) about a replacement set of studs & nuts.

Hi,

This WE great ride with my Scimitar: Bordeaux, Nantes, La Baule, Rennes, Avranches, Deauville Honfleur, Rouen then return to Bordeaux: 1600 kms in 4 days
No problem with the rocker arms: they did not go wrong
Only small problem I had to change the capacitor: 5 min lost
