Problem with front wheel hub

Post by Eric2205 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:40 pm

Hello,

A month ago by changing my rolling kit I realized my front wheel hub too old.
I bought one to replace it with a new bearing kit.
Saturday I can install the inner bearing but I could not install the outer bearing : the outer ring was too big (45.30) for my new front wheel hub (41.30).
I think the front wheel hub that I bought was installed in a Scimitar younger than mine.

If I buy the bearing kit for a Scimitar 68-71 I will be able to install this front wheel hub or will I have to find a new front wheel hub?

Eric

Problem with front wheel hub

The older cars had the smaller outer bearing - you have acquired a hub from a older car not a younger one. Best you contact the club traders and ask for the older bearing - you are right it being 68 to 71 or thereabouts. They were changed because flexing caused the brake pistons to travel too far in when cornering and the peddle travel to be longer after the corner. The stub axles were changed ( by thicker ones ) and with them the outer wheel bearings.

I get my bearings from a local specialist bearing suppler as I prefer Timkin or SKF to Chinese ones! NTN or NSK are good as well.

The reference numbers for the older hub bearings are:
Outer - 03062/03162
Inner - 07100S/07210X

SE4B Coupe - rebuilt on brand-new chassis.

Well on a scimitar older than mine.
But I may be having a problem: I just bought the front wheel hub, I have on the car the stub axles models after 72

Hello,

I find a front wheel hub for my Scimitar GTE 18/10/1972 number 931060
It's the front wheel hub with "big" outer bearing : 45.3 for the outside ring
