Stirling and District Classic Car Show 2019

Post by Will Anderson » Sun May 12, 2019 9:20 pm

Blessed with great weather and a good turn out of Scimitars here are a few shots of today's line up. Big thanks to Mark for organising and all for turning out and supporing the club. Great to catch up with you all again.

It was a bit nippy first thing in the morning though and some of the exhibitors still had their winter woolies on....

And we had a great chat with the owners of this car which had been reassembled from a pile of bits as a failed restoration. It looked fantastic. What was novel were the bumpers which had been beyond rechroming but they had them brazed and straightened then powder coated in silver. It worked really well with the brilliant white respray too.

Thanks for these, Will. Today was a cracker! I hadn't realised Kevin was there with UMA. It was nice to meet a few new faces (and Scimitars). Great start to the show season! 8)

Yes, had a good long chat with Kevin and his wife, a really nice couple. Great day and good to see you again. Good selection of cars at the show too.

First one here for you!

Looks like a great day. I’d have liked to have come along to this show but timing wasn’t good. Is the club planning on attending any other Scottish shows this year?

As an aside, I used to visit Bridge of Allan fairly regularly in the late seventies/early eighties when my grandad lived there. And around the corner from his house (and a stones throw from the show field in your photos) lived this little number...

There should be a presence at the Pre 67 Ford show at Lathalmond by Dunfermline on 1st September. Mark Amos (Midscotscim on here) usually organises so drop him a PM and ask him to put you on the mailing list. We usually meet up at Kelty beforehand and go in convoy. Hope to see you there?

Yes Terry, I did find a photo of it a few years back - an online Miura register, if I remember correctly. It was converted to the later, more desirable SV guise.

I actually got to know the owner in the eighties. A real Lamborghini nut, but one without the resources to keep the car on the road. He’d bought it in 1976, drove it for a year or two, took it off the road to overhaul the brakes, and it never saw the road again (in his ownership). He eventually sold it for £9000 (I think) in the late eighties.
