Greenham Common meetings

Post by Old and Slow » Sun Feb 10, 2019 1:49 pm

I've just seen an email from the Jensen Owners Club, who saw on FB that a new monthly meeting has been running for about 4 months:
Organiser Dave Richards (classic car owner/journalist)
2nd week-end of the month (Saturdays, I believe);
10.00 to 12.00 but the cafe opens at 09.30 til 4.00 pm
Overview here:

Greenham Common meetings

That sounds interesting might go to the next one. A Facebook page https://en-gb.facebook.com/events/2011915598857577/ shows it was held yesterday 9th of Feb so on the basis that its held second Saturday of the month takes us to the 9th of March.
When I was a lad I lived close to Greenham, it was a fully operational USAF base then so have fond memories.

Not far from me :D
Last time I was up there, it was still closed to the public, although the U.S. had left.

Greenham Common meetings

Post by Old and Slow » Sat Mar 09, 2019 1:56 pm

Thought I'd pop over to Greenham Common this morning, an opportunity to see if the oil and water leaks are finally cured.
A word of warning - don't get there too early; cafe opens at 9.30 so we thought it would be good to arrive before 10. Apparently every Saturday the populace of Newbury turn up for an early morning 5k run and the car park is chock-a-block. By 10.15 the car park is almost empty.
Not wanting to boast, but I think 660XYB was the most interesting car there.
Here's a couple of pictures (from the Missus' phone; haven't got the hang of my new one yet).

NOT taken when falling over in the car park.
Happy motoring...
