Excel Classic Car Show

Post by bambam40 » Sun Feb 18, 2018 4:34 pm

Visited the Classic Show at Excel. Some lovely cars on show but not a huge event. (walked around it all in around 2 hours). Some £million + items but also some mediocre kit cars on display. Not a GTE in sight.
I have attended the Retoration Show each year so far and have to say it is far more absorbing and has a greater choice of viewing. This show was predominately 911s, Astons, Ferraris, Jags and Lambos. Very nice but all look the same after a while.
(there was a air cooled 911 for £200K which took my fancy but my wife says we need to keep the house!!)

Love the white Lambo, is it a real one or a kit car ?

That one was real, it was in the auction, didn't see the guide price, probably a lot!!

I went there on Friday too,the first time I have been to the ExCel.I liked it,plenty of room and not too crowded. The green Healey belonged to a guy I work with in retirement,it cost an absolute fortune to restore. It was very good to see all the restoration skills that still exist here, albeit at a price😀

Healey is beautiful. Did you see the one that was ready for restoration? Held together by rust, would be a brave restorer who takes it on.

Yes indeed. The green one will not be a “trailer queen” either,my mate uses his classics day in day out.

Gulp, he's got some cheek.....
It's a 1993 back dated to look like a pre 73 built by PS. You can buy a REAL pre 73 911S for less money, the real deal not a replica. IMHO its worth about £60K & no where near £200K its not a Singer by a long stretch.
I'm gobsmacked at that asking price!
