Big thanks to Peter, without whom there would be no ScimFest sprint, no championship. He stepped in and did a superb job, thanks Peter :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah: :hurrah:

As for the commentary, you lot got off soooo lightly...
If I'm not competing next season, you never know I may do it again... so watch out

Thoroughly enjoyed Curborough this year so thanks to all those doing all the hard work to make keep the show going. Weather was good, turn out of Scimitars was varied and plentiful. Apologies to anyone who I missed or I didn't have time to chat with, was only on site for a limited time this year.
As ever, the weekend rushed past too quickly and now there is the long wait till Scimfest 2019!

Oh yes, and thanks to Craig for the laughs at the commentary Sunday afternoon

especially to Craig for supporting me and stepping in to do the commentary (what it lacked in accuracy he made up with humour!)
Perfect job - best seat in the house and the ability to hear the sound of his own voice for 3 hours

A huge thanks to all concerned - I know how much hard work goes in to this event behind the scenes.

I would like to echo thanks to all, those that helped me when I asked stupid questions (you know who you are!) but especially to Craig for supporting me and stepping in to do the commentary (what it lacked in accuracy he made up with humour!)

Boll*x. Craig made it up as he went along. I told him it was James that cross - dressed , not Trevor...

Well, from my point of view as a Newbie, I had a fantastic, unforgettable weekend. What a great crowd you are! There have been some comments in the past to the effect that the RSSOC is bit cliqué (correct French spelling) ,but that's nonsense! I got a genuinely friendly welcome from everybody I spoke to , a lot of people showed interest in the car, and I saw Scimitars (and other marques) being used the way they were intended -mostly - topped-off by the sight and sound of the legendary Blue Thunder. The social side of things was brill, especially the attempts at American square-dancing to a live group . I nearly missed the Curry Convention -my fault- but got there in the end , and discovered what an entertaining lot Mikey Bikey & his friends are! All in all it was well worth the 610 miles to get there , and 649 miles going back to France . I wouldn't do it again next week, because it cost me a whole month's pension, but I have ticked "Curbs" off my bucket-list. Thanks go to everyone who was involved in running it ,you all deserve to feel proud of yourselves.

Ian Lambert.

I'll do next year's commentary...if I can remember how I used to be able to string a sentence together without swearing...

Hoping next year to at least swing by even if its up and back from here in one day.

Plus the huge fun of finally meeting Mrs Howard, giving her a huge hug, and then whispering "Game"

Then running like hell

Ps

That dark blue on the 6a from one of the collection on facebook...what blue is that? So pretty....

Great weekend as usual. Thanks to all who contributed. SAR performed admirably and returned 31 mpg over 400 miles, which I’m pleased and a tad amazed about. The quiz night on Friday was a hoot, though where Monty got some of those questions is quite unbelievable. A good time had by all and here’s a pic to prove it 😂😂😂

Curborough 2018 Photos

I've been playing with my very old and out of date web site.
Uploaded are images of the Auto Test and the Sprint at Curborough this year.
Visit www.magpiemicros.co.uk and use the Events & Categories link to go to a menu which lists the Auto Test and Sprint separately.
The images are not very high resolution but good enough to look at or keep if you want to save the image.

Excellent Jerry, thanks for the pics!

A hint of actual tyre smoke from the SS1, who'd have thought eh?!
