Cuckoo Spring Fayre, Laughton East Sussex.

Post by AnotherTim » Sun May 21, 2017 10:44 am

In past years I have seen a regular Scimitar club stand at the Laughton Spring fayre. I believe it might be the Solent Noggin based on previous chats. Its on next weekend - 27-29th May. I wondered if the club will be there? I'm hoping to drop by one of the days.

Hi Tim,
Yup, we'll be there!
I'm expecting around 6 cars on Saturday and Monday, and 8 on the Sunday. Should have a good selection of cars on the stand! Keep an eye out for the Solent Noggin sail flag. If we are not around the cars we'll be out around the show but there's usually someone around!
See you next weeend

Sounds like Sunday is Optimum Scimitar day, so I'll probably go Sunday. I look forward to seeing some Scims and hopefully saying hello to some more club members.

Saw nice collection of Solent Noggin 5s & 6s today at Laughton, plus a couple of Sabres which was a new experience for me. I'm ashamed to admit that in my newby Scimitar ignorance I assumed they were SS1s until I'd stared at the for a while and realised the differences.

Chatted to Kev, Mr Goldtop, for a good long while and drooled over his absolutely faultless Scim. Like a true perfectionist he denied it was faultless and proceeded to show me the two sub-atomic imperfections. I thought about my own junk yard dog and felt like weeping. I'd give me eye teeth for imperfections like that. You can't even see my car for all the imperfections on it.

Thanks for the chat Kev, and for the info you passed on about various mechanical things that I will consider for my own car when I get it back.

I've been encourage to make the pilgrimage to Curbs again, so I must give that some serious thought. Although as I was saying to Kev, I can drive my car all day if there's no destination in mind, but each time I plan to drive it somewhere, it scuppers the plan. Therefore I need to just be driving aimlessly and then just happen upon Curbs quite by unintended chance.

Hi Tim,
Just got back today from Laughton after a really long weekend! Great to meet up with you on Sunday and have a chat about Scims in general and hope Mrs Tim didn't think you'd gone missing :)
Maybe see you at Curbs in August and good luck with your ongoing work on your Scim...
Cheers for now
