Cotswold motorhub 7 July 2019

Post by scimjim » Sun Jul 07, 2019 11:01 pm

The Cotswold classic motor hub is a couple of hangars at an old airfield with the most amazing collection of cars inside. The beauty of the show was that 99% of the attendees arrived in classics (and it was British day), so rather than hearing the “Princess Anne had one of those....” and “is it plastic mate....” it was “ah, an SE5 - does it still have the Essex fitted?”

I went with a couple of friends who’ve been before, one in his mk1 mini and another with his TR3 and we probably had the most affordable classics there!

There were too many cars to remember them all and I didn’t take many photos but in the car park were a Jensen Interceptor SP and an FF, several TVRs from all eras, I was parked next to a 6 litre TWR XJS, there were Aston’s everywhere (including a zagato vanquish coupe and a DB2) and rarities like a Range Rover Classic CSK,

Inside the hangars were various cars for sale or being stored, the only 1929 Aston Martin works team LM3, a 1932 works LM8, DB6, DBS, etc. MGs like the PA and MGA, Alvis, AC Ace (Bristol) and an Aceca and Lagondas, it just went on and on!

Amongst the non British cars were a BMW Z1, several Ferrari’s like a RHD 365 GTC V12, a 365 GTS, a 1962 Osca 1600 GTS Zagato Le Mans works car, a Bugatti type 40, Hispano Suiza H6B double phaeton, a BMW 327/80 cabriolet (RHD Fraser Nash version) and a car I’d never even heard of (maybe because they only ever made one!) the Piccard-Pictet M111.

Non-British car of the show for me though, was a Citroen DS19 by Henri Chapron - the “Le Paris” apparently one of 3 survivors of the 9 built.
