See how freely the traffic flows! It also explains why people were thinner years ago - they walked much more quickly. :)

:D Even if that seems a bit set-up, I love how Paris traffic is so anarchic, but nobody seems to get super-upset about it. It's just accepted as the way the traffic works. Much swearing and fisticuffs would ensue in the UK if the same behaviour were repeated.
(Caveat : my observation is only based on once crossing Paris by motorcycle, which itself feels like I earned my stripes.)
