Lost Post to DVLA

Post by Dot » Fri May 01, 2020 4:28 pm

Am I the only one who has had two letters in the last six months alledgedly lost in the post when sending them to the DVLA in Swansea?

Am I an exceptional case or is this common as I know of two other people who claim to have had the same problem.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Never had anything lost in the post to DVLA - but I do as much as possible online these days.

As I'm reasonably close, I must admit that the postal service here in Wales is really suffering badly in the present circumstances. We have had many things not delivered or even taken from boxes. Our local village postboxes hasn't been opened since last Saturday.

I'm afraid that west Wales is on it's knees at present.

Moved house last year, sent both paper and picture licence off to change address and nothing came back, phoned them up, told me they never got it and i would have to pay for a new one, a week later Watchdog did a piece on the Dvla showing they had in july & august lost hundreds of documents and would pay for them if you had sent recorded post and could show proof.

Hi
Me too normally, however these were both matters that needed an explanatory letter and the latter was even sent under a Certificate of Posting that required a signature which got to the Post Office at Swansea and then seems to have disappeared. I'm 76 years old and I've never had anything lost in the post before - seems odd. Certainly among my circle of friends it seems a common problem.

funny thing is if you say you dont have or have not recieved a notice of intended prosecution for speeding etc it is simply assumed it was sent as it suits the authorities

however the dvla make you prove something was sent....a bit unfair

i sent off my v5 ,cheque for fee to remove private plate from my daily car and retain-4 weeks ago, havent heard anything yet and they are uncontactable ...so no doubt i will have to re-apply for v5[at my cost] and submit again when this is over-i only bought the car as a stop gap

i normally remove private plates online but sometimes they wont let you do it[poor taxation history] and this was one of those cases, its my friends plate[whom i bought the car from] strange also how subsequent owners of a vehicle are penalised -

We sent Easter Cards to our two grand-daughters in the next town; one arrived, one disappeared, who knows where...
It's all a bit unpredictable at the moment, I feel.
Hope things work out for you - the DVLA are bound to be short-staffed at the moment and I doubt they can work from home.

well one was six months ago and the latest one seven weeks ago ,both alittle complex and needing a reply, my belief is they were binned to save the
bother of a reply, its alittle annoying when you get a letter threatening legal action for not having sorned, although if you have no log book its not easy, but now the problem is understandableof course.
