On clearing out a dark corner of my garage I came across a copy of Motor Sport magazine containing this advertisement from April 1972. As you will note Chequered Flag had a selection of 1970 GTE’s available from £1795. However for another £300 or so you could have had a 1970 E Type or alternatively a 1970 Escort Twin Cam plus a couple of random 1275 Cooper ‘S’ and change out of £2000.
With the benefit of hindsight I’m thinking the guy who bought the GTE is probably kicking himself now if he still has it!!!!

A 'concours' DB5 Volante for less than two grand - that would have taken care of someone's old age, financially-speaking!!

Any other stories of missed opportunities?

I've always bought anything I view and normally basket cases.

I responded to a Loot ad for a 911 for £900 travelled a long way for it to be a 924 :(

Thank fossils for fuel!
