1974 Dealers list

Found this dealer list in the September 1974 issue of Fast Car magazine. It was accompanied by the GTE used-car guide below.

That was a list of garages who paid to advertise, overall there must have been about 40.

Brilliant Darren! Hard to believe they're over 46 years old. Interesting garage name as well. :)

I'm slowly compiling a list of Reliant Sabre/Scimitar Dealers through the years.

I've started collecting old dealer adverts from old car magazines, Dealer paperwork, dealer stickers, dealer tax disks and dealer stickers etc. 8)

Nice bit of (local to me) Reading history :D
I vaguely remember 234 Motors being in Station road, as a school friends Dad had a 3-wheeler he bought from them, but also remember my Grandfather talking about the Scimitar he went to look at when the showroom was in Friar street

Paul Matty Cars in Bromsgrove were a reliant and lotus dealer. When the ss1 Ti came out Paul told me lotus put them under pressure to ditch reliant as the Ti was embarrassing Norfolk finest ;-)
We chatted for a while at shelsely as it turn3d out he supplied E89 TOB ex Nigel Reeves which ultimately became Batmobile. Paul would have a story or two to tell Dave I'm sure

I remember Two Mills Garage well, it was where I had my first ride in a GTE. I was road testing a Honda S800 dhc when it ran out of petrol, the salesman hitched a lift back but instead of bringing petrol arrived in the demonstrator GTE with a colleague. I was in the GTE whilst the Honda was towed.
That was it, I had to have one, although it was several years till I could afford one.
Two Mills was at one time owned by Bill Smith the motorcycle racer/dealer, it became a Honda dealership, the franchise was eventually transfered to Cheshire Oaks.
It is now a carpet warehouse.
I bought the Honda S800 dhc and then changed that for S800 coupe. ( wished I'd kept them).
