Car insurance advice
Can someone help, wanted to get an agreed value on my SE6A i was informed that i would have to either get an independent valuation done or someone from the RSSOC would have to give an evaluation, how do you go about this, is it worth having an agreed value.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Well worth having agreed value insurance - without it they will give you virtually nothing. Classic car insurance is also relatively cheap - we are with Classic Line but there is a good choice out there.

I also believe that the car needs to be garaged to be accepted for an agreed value status. GTC 404 has our official club valuation agreed at £20,000. Yet I can’t obtain an agreed Insurance valuation because it’s not garaged.
Unless someone (hopefully) can point me in the right direction.

Classic line do not require the car to be garaged - we have four Scimitars and none of them are garaged but all are on agreed value. Some insurance Co's will only insure up to a certain value then they require they are garaged. I was with Adrian Flux before Classic Line and left them because they would not insure all the cars under one policy - they did not want the cars garaged either.

Peter - What information did you have to provide to obtain an agreed value insurance, did you have to get an independent person / company to value your cars

Its all on the club form - side front and rear photos plus one of the engine and one of the inside - the insurance Co's want a photo of the mileage reading as well. details of mods re-sprays etc.james couper wrote: ↑Wed May 30, 2018 10:21 pmPeter - What information did you have to provide to obtain an agreed value insurance, did you have to get an independent person / company to value your cars

Car insurance advice
Seems to me better to post this here rather than start a new thread, and this is rather separate from the general club advice...
I don't know if anyone else on here has picked up on an item on Money Saving Expert recently, but in case you missed it, the gist is, YOU GET THE BEST QUOTE 21 DAYS AHEAD OF YOUR RENEWAL DATE.
Now I don't know if this is true for classic car insurance too or not, but as quotes are usually valid for at least 30 days it won't cost you a penny to find out. Full details and explanation here:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/latesttip/#carins
Seems to be pretty much across the board, for all companies. It's obviously a statistical thing, so you won't necessarily get the absolute cheapest quote precisely 21 days ahead of time from every company, but by and large the difference between what you get and what you *might* have got is tiny compared with the difference between what you get and what you'll pay if you leave it until renewal is due immediately.
Also true evidently for house insurance.
