They are not for everybody, especially for those with cars with no power steering - i.e. 5 and 5A. I shall be selling mine this year at some point. Going back to Dunlops.

Not sure why they get a special mention though. Perhaps its because they we never standard fitment on those cars?

Cheers

So my black SE5 on Wolfrace doesn’t meet with Martin Buckley’s taste?

Meh....

Wolfraces are a bit "marmite" I find - I'm not a fan (although had some Appliance slots in 15" on my 5a when it went back on the road) but they wouldn't be my first choice personally. They weren't a factory option until the 6a although they are "period". Dave Poole's car (in the picture) is running 15's, which weren't fitted to a GTE until the MB anyway (and then, not Wolfrace) but again - period, even if not factory.

Perhaps it's just a pet hate of the writer?

Funny we have a 5A up north which was fitted with 7" wolfs from new - they were a option offered.

Perhaps it was a late one being sold alongside the new 6A's, like mine was. For all I know, my P reg 5A had 'Wolfies' from new.

If and when the values go up, they will start to attract the sharks that will be looking for the 'as standard and unmolested' cars so that they can inflate the price be asked.

Phrases like, 'Matching Numbers', 'Full Service History', 'One Owner from New', 'Owned By <insert famous person>', Low mileage, Original Paint, Patina, etc........Ooer, let me go and sit down.

Dealer option and factory option shouldn’t be confused - a Webasto roof was a dealer option IIRC and I understand many dealers did offer Woolfe Race/Wolfrace wheels on a new car well before Reliant jumped on board.

Do I get a prize for being the 16th owner of a well worn, fully molested, 'non-matching numbers', car of indeterminate mileage....that is not the original colour?

Wheels are obviously a personal choice but I always think of the 70’s and jacked up old Ford Consuls and rusty Capris with bad flame jobs when I see Wolfraces......It’s from reading copies of Hot Car and Custom Car when I was at an impressionable age. No offence intended personal opinion only. Although I do think Dave Poole’s 5 looks great 👍

Hi Pete, I bought the latest Classic Car to read the article, but I always thought Scimitar owners had them because they are a really great car. It’s like being part of a secret society 😉👍.
PS , you’re not missing anything at Heathrow and I’ve worked out I’ll have to work to 90 to get a pension😫
Sorry , drifted off thread......
