Post by scimjim » Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:03 pm

Don't know how I missed this at the Classic Le Mans 2014 (pic is from another forum), maybe it was the colour? - points for it's name.....?

Maybe I should disqualify myself, as it was also at the Goodwood Festival of speed (along with it's two "sisters") :D

I've never been aware of it before but have worked out what it is via Google so won't submit my 'guess'.

I've been looking at some original photos and you couldn't suggest the restoration was sympathetic, maybe its better close up but those front wings in Jim's photo are appalling

:? Well at first glance it looks like a Bentley, but I guess that's too simple. Alvis special?

That is what the first glance of Roger's photo label would suggest

I was pretty confident it was a Derby special. But I'm stumped now.

Humm ... puzzling indeed
I was actually parked near this BENTLEY 4,5l Tourer 1928 (the #44 in 'plateau 1') at LMC ...
trying to trace down what car was engaged under #41 in the same plateau, my search
came up with a CITROËN C4 Roadster 1932 ... but it's clearly not the same car/color :?
I could not find it either among all my pics ...
Nice quizz ... will keep on searching
Cheers, Fred

It didn't actually race at LMC, I think - I can't see it on the Entry list..

Ah. This type held a record for an unofficial race that had previously been Rovers claim to fame in a car with a very similar title. Any one know the unofficial race?
