I cant see the DVLA giving out road tax to a vehicle that doesn't have insurance.

....from my own experience on sunday and a long discussion on the facebook page, if you have no mot you can retax and get mot exemption on line ....
I have tried and have not been able to do that.

.....if you have a v5 for a car that is eligible for historic status but has not yet been changed take it to a post office and you will be given a years free tax and mot exemption even if you have NO insurance...
I have tried and was told I could not do that, the DVLA rules say I must have insurance.

I can only "assume" that as my cars are NOT insured as I was not intending on using them, only getting the new documentation ready for when I do, The "System" would not let me do any of the above.

Lets clear it all up.
So Chris, Steve, Mark and rebel alliance had insurance, but did Kwackers and Mike do you have insurance on yours?

Who has contacted DVLA through their .Gov system, then declared VHI and Got free tax Without Insurance ONLINE and how did you do it?.

Actual proof would help as I`m not that gullible to even be on facesnapbooktwitchatcrap and tell everyone when I take adump or snort shite.

Anecdotal whispers ARE NOT helping here.

One person managed to get Tax at a Post Office without his car being insured - I think that was probably operator error by the counter staff because it contradicts the law and everything everyone else is saying?

Exactly Jim.
rebel alliance, I have no need or urgency to join twittertwatfacesnaptrollmeuckyoubook, so Jonathan Dewars posts mean nothing to me.
ALL im asking is how the ¬uck do you get VHI and Tax exempt?.
The DVLA web site is no help and I have told them so.

When I spoke to someone from the DVLA the other day about MOT exemption for my Scimitar he told me to wait until the tax is up and do it then. When I explained that my tax is not due until May 2019 and my MOT is due in June this year he suggested I ring the DVSA on 0300 1239000 as they deal with the MOT side apparently.

Hi Terry
I have spent too much time on the phone, and on line, AND time at my local taxing post office trying to get to the "Actual" way of doing this.

The DVLA are not fit for purpose, how much money do they collect from us, and still can`t organise a $iss up in a brewery.

I`ve had enough of this joke and will get the "cheapest" insurance I can before even thinking about moving on.

I`m throwing the towel in on this scimweb debate.

I would not worry about it rebel alliance I have had a member from this club (Bristol branch ) insult me be calling my car a skip on wheels at a cherished show (I use it every day unlike him ) I think he did not like the fact that most people where looking at my car and favorably commenting on my car being more down to earth.
