AVIATION ANYONE??

Post by Oldconn » Tue Oct 08, 2019 12:24 pm

I saw and heard - and was allowed to photograph - the SR71 at RAF Mildenhall sometime in the early '70s , while working as a local press photographer. It was ony the third aircraft I had ever seen perform a near-vertical take-off and climb out . The other two were the Vulcan and an English-Electric Lightning - and the Blackbird was easily the loudest! It had cleared London airspace and was away across the Atlantic in six minutes. Ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be............

AVIATION ANYONE??

Post by frodo_monkey » Tue Oct 08, 2019 2:43 pm

I’ve only just seen this thread - I didn’t realise (bar Jim and Luke) that we had some much interest in aviation on here!

If anyone is interested I’m still serving in the RAF and have spent most of the last 18-odd years as a backseater on Tornado F3 and GR4 - I can whack some pics in if they’d be of interest? Although Photobucket isn’t too good right now - a suggestion of a better host (Flickr?) would be gratefully received :D

Now you're just showing off Frodo ;)

I'm 2 years out of being in the RAF, it's been an interesting ride. I'm thinking about rejoining actually! Returning to the mob.....

Contract at Waddington then - with Luke’s CV he’d be on double what the RAF pay, without any of the messing around! If you want the adventure training etc, join the reserves!
