Ahhh Halton parade ground...10 years since I passed through there at graduation!

Haltons last SWO is now Coningsby's new SWO, makes for interesting walking about on station...

I spent a fabulous 3 years at RAF Halton as an Engineer Instructor teaching the theory if flight and engines (aerodynamics and thermodynamics for the posh amongst us  ). Two of our boys were born in RAF hospital there. Great times in the early 70s.....where has the time gone?

You know Geoff, thought I had met you before when we met up at Le Mans three ago.
Started my apprenticeship at RAF Halton on 5th November 1971 as a sixteen year old.

Yes Phil I remember. I was at Halton Sep '72 to Sep '75 so I could well have taught you at some point. Small world eh?

Oh, and I had my Scim SAR then too

Have been back a few times over the years for the apprentice reunions but the last time I marched on that parade ground was 55 years ago.

AVIATION ANYONE??

Looked out of the kitchen window at about midday today and saw the unmistakeable shape of a B17 over the South Downs. Could only be "Sally B", presumably on her way back home to Duxford from Bournemouth, where she was due to appear this weekend. Just had time to grab a quick photo:

For me, I will miss the Vulcan. What a wonderful sound when she opened up after a low fly past.

I saw the beautiful Sally B at Bournemouth this weekend. (and saw the Vulcan there two years previous)

Sally B was the highlight for me this year, such a magnificent, graceful.... killing machine! it flew right over us on the not so busy end of the beach as it left, it makes an awesome rumble for those huge radial engines.
