...They are, Dave - in fact an ideal pairing with the SE5..........both British; both have a chassis; both have reasonably simplistic engineering; both have a very good spares back-up [given their combined age.......99yrs!!! Strewth! I've never worked out the aggregate age before - that's frightening!!] Oh, & one is a convertible & one doesn't even have a sunroof to leak.

Two Bugattis in Bourton on the water and what I think was the nose of a Rover P4 peeking out of a garage.

When I took G97 to be corner weighted, they had a LHD e-type on the lift. Recently imported and solid underneath, just needing recommissioning after many years in a garage. Also a Lotus Elan having a HG after Loton (I think that was the scrutineering sticker) a week or so ago and the tatty purple Daimler Dart I saw when I went to the rolling road next door last month.

A very nice looking blue S plate Stag at the petrol station in Chipping Norton. It sounded rather better than the SS1 I was putting fuel in.

Yesterday coming away from my lock-up in the SE5, offroad at the side of business premises, a gorgeous dark-blue E-type coupe in repose - glinting chrome 'wires' with webasto opened up; on a 'C' plate...

On a drive through the Beaujolais this morning a black DS20 shortly followed by a blue Alpine-Renault
Later a green Stag ... and just as I was coming back to my parents' village a stunning 'in its juice' Ford Capri MKI
was coming out of a roundabout - no time to check the details but by its sound it might very well have been an RS2600 8) -

now: Scimitar SE5 ('71), Scimitar SE6a ('79), Scimitar SST 1800Ti ('90), Ford Anglia LHD ('61),Ford Consul Capri LHD ('61), TVR Chimaera 400 ('96), Caterham SV ('10), Lexus IS200 ('04)
past: Mitsubishi Celeste ('77), Alfetta Quadrifoglio ('85), Nissan Maxima ('95)
